Higginsville City Administrator Jeanette Dobson recently attended the meeting on the Lafayette County Emergency Services Board and provided an update about the implementation of the 911 Sales Tax.
Dobson tells KMMO News that the 911 Tax Fund Committee has been working on the implementation of a sales tax to fund Lafayette County Central Dispatch. Dobson notes the tax will take effect October 1.
Dobson says this tax is replacing the $1 fee on every phone line in the county on October 1 as well.
The tax was approved during the April 2025 General Election, passing with 65 percent of the vote. This tax does not have a sunset.
