The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen held a discussion over some changes to the city dump during its meeting on Monday, September 8.

According to minutes from the meeting, Alderman John Clevenger began the discussion by suggesting that the city dump be locked from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the site being unlocked at night and on the weekends. The board notes that people have been dumping large loads of debris and making a mess at the site. After some discussion, the board voted to keep the dump locked from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and to keep it unlocked weekday nights from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. The dump will also remain unlocked all day on weekends and on holidays.

The board also voted to charge commercial companies and non Sweet Springs residents $65 per load at the site. The motion passed with a 3-1 vote, with Alderman Trey Schleicher voting no.

The board also reviewed the audit report from Randall Fiene. The city is reporting a clean report with normal findings.
