The annual Waverly Apple Jubilee begins Thursday, Sept. 11, welcoming visitors to the riverside community to celebrate the popular fruit grown throughout the area.

Alex Smith of the Waverly Jaycees says the three-day gathering will begin with the apple pie contest Thursday morning from 8 to 11 a.m. The princess and queen contest will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Missouri State Champion Apple Auction at 8 p.m. Smith previews the full schedule of events planned for Friday.

Smith says carnival wristbands are available for a presale price of $20 until Thursday afternoon, and will be $25 if purchased after the first carnival session opens. A full day of events is also planned for Saturday:

Prior to the final concert, the Apple Jubilee parade will make its way through Waverly, beginning at 7 p.m.
