The St. Louis Cardinals fell behind early, and couldn’t rebound late as the Milwaukee Brewers became the first team in Major League Baseball with 90 wins after defeating the Cardinals 8-2 on Friday, September 12.

The Brewers got to St. Louis starter Andre Pallante in the third, tagging him with four runs in the frame. Milwaukee added to their lead in the fourth after an RBI double from Jake Bauers.

Alec Burleson got St. Louis on the board in the sixth with an RBI triple, then scored on Lars Nootbar’s RBI single.

The Brewers would get those runs back after a two-run shot off the bat of Christian Yelich in the seventh. Jackson Chourio drove home the game’s final run with a single in the eighth.

Pallante took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and four walks.

The Cardinals fall to 72-76, four games back of the Mets for the third wild card spot. The Cardinals will look to even the series today. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
