A New Franklin man died late Friday, Sept. 12 after his all-terrain vehicle went off a Howard County highway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the 41-year-old man was traveling in an unknown direction on Route P north of County Road 451, about three miles northeast of New Franklin. Troopers say that at around 10 p.m., the vehicle went off the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver. The Howard County Coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene Saturday before 8 a.m. Troopers added that the driver had not been wearing the proper safety gear at the time of the crash.
