The Concordia Board of Aldermen recently approved the purchase of two parcels of land north of Interstate-70 during a closed session prior to its Monday night meeting.
The board announced this purchase at the beginning of the meeting. The board first discussed this potential purchase during a closed session on September 2. City Administrator Dale Klussman says the board approved the purchase in the amount of $130,000.
Klussman said the board initially wanted to lease one of the buildings on this property to use for salt and sand storage. Klussman says negotiations shifted after the owner expressed interest in selling the property to the city. Klussman says the city plans to use all three buildings on the property for storage of various resources and equipment.
The city has not made any plans for the 5.5 acres of land included in this purchase.
