
Authorities in Lafayette County arrested a Higginsville man after responding to disturbance on Sunday, September 14.
According to a probable cause statement, Higginsville Police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a residence in city limits regarding a domestic disturbance involving a gun. Dispatch advised that the suspect, identified as Anthony Miller had allegedly put a gun to a victim’s face during a dispute.
Police responded to the scene and heard yelling from inside the residence. Miller refused to comply, locking the entrances to the residence as police attempted to detain him. Officers were able to enter the home and arrest Miller after one of the victims unlocked the door while Miller was distracted at the back door.
Officers stated that Miller was in possession of a loaded handgun, a holster with a loaded magazine, and a pocketknife at the time of the arrest. The victim told authorities that Miller also slashed one of the tires on her car, put her in a headlock, and pointed the handgun in her face after the two got into a verbal dispute. Two children were in the home at the time if the incident. Police note that Miller smelled of alcohol and marijuana, and that he allegedly made verbal threats towards the victim and officers.
Miller has been charged with kidnapping in the first degree, assault in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, domestic assault in the third degree, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest, and three counts of armed criminal action. Due to the nature of the charges and the reported threats, no bond has been allowed.
No court dates have been set at this time.
