A Nelson man suffered moderate injury after his pickup went off a Cooper County roadway Monday, Sept. 15.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred after 10 a.m. on Route U, about a quarter-mile north of Kable Lane, eight miles south of Boonville. Troopers say that the 79-year-old driver went off the right side of the road as his pickup was traveling south on Route U around a curve. The pickup then struck a creek embankment and came to rest in the creek. Troopers say the driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. He was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment.
