The Missouri Valley College Rodeo teams are ready to hit the ground running at the Viking Stampede Rodeo, which begins Thursday evening.
The rodeo, which is the first event of the season for the Ozark Region competitors, will begin each night at 7 p.m. until Saturday. The region is comprised of teams from Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky and Arkansas. The Vikings have had a lot of success at the regional and national level the past few seasons, with the men’s team earning reserve champion honors at the National Finals Rodeo in June. Heading into this season, Head Rodeo Coach Ken Mason says the ultimate goal is to compete for a national championship.
Mason says he is thankful for his student athletes and all the support the team has received from the community.
The Viking Stampede Rodeo is the first and only event MVC’s Rodeo programs will host this fall. The Vikings will also travel several other events this fall, including trips to the University of West Alabama on September 25-27, Southern Arkansas University on October 9-11, University of Arkansas-Monticello on October 16-18, and Murray State University on November 20-22.
