Voter registration drives were held at high schools in Marshall and Sweet Springs to mark National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Both the Democrat and Republican central committees volunteered at each high school to help make the drives possible. National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday that encourages citizens to fulfill their civic duty by registering to vote. The Saline County Commission previously passed a resolution recognizing the holiday during its Sept. 10 session.
Sweet Springs High School had 11 new registered voters and Marshall High School had four new registered voters. The last day to register to vote for the November General Election is Oct. 8.
