A Stover man incurred serious injury after his pickup was struck as he was waiting for traffic to turn off Route 52 outside Eldon on Thursday, Sept. 18.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 69-year-old man was stopped in the westbound lane of Route 52, waiting for a vehicle to turn left onto Admire Road. The Patrol reports that at around 10:35 a.m., another pickup driven by a Eugene man began to skid, and struck the rear of the Stover man’s pickup. The collision resulted in the Stover pickup hitting the back of a vehicle from Iowa, which then ran into the back of an SUV from Eugene.
The Stover man was flown to a Columbia hospital. Troopers say he had not been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver from Iowa suffered moderate injury and received treatment at a nearby hospital, while the other two drivers had no reported injuries. Troopers added that the other three drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
