Construction of the new Missouri Route 5 bridge over Bear Creek in Glasgow, is now expected to continue through October. Work was originally scheduled to wrap up this month, but the project timeline has been extended. Until work is complete, the road will remain narrowed to one lane with temporary signals guiding motorists through the work zone.

Crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation began the bridge replacement and sidewalk improvement project in March 2025. An underground spring requiring extensive excavation and a deteriorated roadway foundation under Route 5 which required substantial work have extended the project timeline. It will now continue into October. In addition to the temporary traffic signals, the 11-foot, 2-inch width restriction and reduced speeds will remain in place through the completion of the project.
