
The Missouri Tigers were down at the half, but rallied in the fourth quarter to take down the South Carolina Gamecocks 29-20.
After a scoreless first quarter where both teams exchanged punts, Mizzou opened the scoring with a 99-yard touchdown drive capped off with an eight yard pass from Beau Pribula to Joshua Manning. Robert Meyer missed the extra point, keeping Missouri’s lead at 6-0.
South Carolina responded on their very next drive, scoring on a 49-yard touchdown pass from LaNorris Sellers. The Tigers regained the lead on their next possession on a 23-yard field goal.
Later in the quarter, the Gamecocks took advantage of Pribula’s first interception of the year to take a five point lead after another touchdown. The Tigers were able to get one final field goal before the end of the quarter, going into the half facing a 14-12 deficit.
The Tigers were able to take a brief lead in the third quarter after a touchdown carry from Ahmad Hardy, but South Carolina maintained a 20-18 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Mizzou opened up the fourth quarter with a 75-yard touchdown drive and a successful two point conversion. The Tigers were able to put the game out of reach with a 40-yard field goal, making it 29-20.
Mizzou’s defense came up strong in the fourth, forcing two punts and a turnover on downs. Hardy finished with 138 yards rushing yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers put up 456 yards of offense and was 7/13 on third down.
Missouri improves to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers next host the UMass Minutemen on Saturday, September 27. Kickoff will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Faurot Field.
