The American Red Cross is holding a shelter fundamentals course this weekend to teach community members how to open, operate and close a disaster shelter.
The course will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Saline County Emergency Management Director Brad Hinz says the course will teach the community how to open and operate a Red Cross approved disaster shelter in case of any emergency.
Hinz says the goal of the course is to prepare the community for any disaster that could displace people from their homes.
Lunch will be provided for attendees. Anyone interested in the course can RSVP by contacting Community Disaster Program Specialist Alie Pasternak at 816-819-0755, or by contacting Hinz at the Saline County Emergency Management Agency.
