A brief power outage was reported in the City of Slater following storm damage on Sunday, September 21.

City Administrator Gene Griffith says the city was hit hard with a severe storm, with winds of up to 55 miles per hour. He notes that many trees were knocked over into the roadways and powerlines. The city also had six power poles get knocked down, which led to a brief power outage Sunday evening. Griffith says power was restored after about 40 minutes and crews have been working to clear the streets and restore power poles and lines.

Griffith thanked residents for their patience as the city worked to restore power.

In other news, the citywide boil order is still in effect at this time. The boil order went into effect last week following a positive sample for E. coli. The city has been submitting water samples to a certified lab for testing. KMMO will provide an update when more information becomes available.
