The Versailles Police Department responded to the 100 block of South Burke after receiving a call of a possible shooting at 7:34 a.m. Monday.

According to a statement from the department, officers arrived at the scene and found an unconscious female with an injury to her head. She was transported to an area hospital and is in critical condition.

Police believe the incident was of personal nature and says there is no cause for alarm to the public. Versailles Police has called upon the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad to assist with the investigation.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a pink hoodie, gloves, mask and sunglasses. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Versailles Police Department at 573-539-2580.
