Early voting has begun for counties with items on their Nov. 4 ballot, including in several counties in the State Fair Community College service area.
Tuesday, Sept. 23 was the first day for voters with a valid excuse in Benton and Pettis counties, along with a number of neighboring precincts including Otterville, to weigh in on the college’s proposed ten-cent levy increase aimed at supporting facility maintenance and equipment upgrades. Pettis County Clerk Megan Page says she’s already seeing solid voter turnout.
Page reminds voters that the last day to register for November’s election is Oct. 8. No-excuse absentee voting will begin Oct. 21, with the last day to request a ballot by mail the following day. Her office will be open Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the state-required Saturday advanced voting session.
For this election only, Page is welcoming 30 voters from two neighboring counties to precincts in Pettis County, as their counties don’t have any other items on the ballot this November.
Voters impacted by the one-off precinct change will receive a letter from their county’s clerk, and if seeking to vote absentee will need to travel to the Pettis County Clerk’s office on East Fifth Street in Sedalia. Page notes that the SFCC tax levy increase is the only proposal that Pettis County voters will have to consider on November’s ballot.
