Mizzou football will continue playing for the Battle Line Rivalry trophy and Peace Pipe over the next four years, but instead of ruffling the feathers of the other Columbia, the Tigers will renew another rivalry from the Big 12.
The Southeastern Conference unveiled Tuesday, Sept. 23 their nine-game conference schedule for the next four seasons, providing each of the conference’s 16 schools three annual opponents, while ensuring that every school plays each other twice over a four-year cycle. Mizzou will continue the Battle Line Rivalry with Arkansas and the Peace Pipe game against Oklahoma, but instead of keeping the annual Mayors’ Cup game with South Carolina, Mizzou will instead face Texas A&M annually. The next battle for the Mayors’ Cup will take place in Columbia, South Carolina in 2027, with the following contest at Faurot Field in 2029. A statement from the SEC says that annual opponents were determined with consideration given to not just traditional rivalries, but also competitive fairness, geography, and alignment with existing non-conference commitments.
Mizzou will have five SEC games at Faurot Field in 2026 and 2028, along with four conference games at home in 2027 and 2029. Because of the SEC’s requirement that teams schedule their tenth game against a high-quality opponent from either the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 or Notre Dame, Mizzou will still need to cancel or postpone one game from the 2027, 2028 and 2029 seasons.
