The Kansas City Royals got down early, and couldn’t muster enough runs late, falling 3-2 to the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, September 24.

The Angels scored first, getting an RBI groundout off the bat of Oswald Peraza in the second inning. Taylor Ward added to the lead in the third with his 36th home run of the season. The Angels scored their final run in the fourth, taking advantage of a throwing error from Royals starter Stephen Kolek to go up 3-0.

The Royals finally got on the board in the fifth after Randal Grichuk drilled his ninth homer of the year. Carter Jensen produced the finals run of the game with an RBI single in the seventh.

Kolek took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings of work. The Kansas City offense was limited to just two hits and two walks.

The Royals fall to 79-79 on the season. The Royals will go for the series win over LA today. Michael Lorenzen will get the start. Pregame coverage begins at 8 p.m., with first pitch at 8:38 on KMMO FM 102.9.
