
The Kansas City offense came alive in Los Angeles, helping the Royals post a 9-4 win over the Angels on Thursday, September 25.
Vinnie Pasquantino opened the scoring in the top of the first with a two-run blast to right field. Jo Addell got Los Angeles on the board in the second, crushing a solo homer to center field.
Pasquantino added to the Kansas City lead in the third, beating out what would have been an inning-ending double play to bring home another run. Bobby Witt Jr. drilled an RBI double in the fifth to make it 4-1 Royals.
The Angels got their second run courtesy of a solo homer from Nolan Schanuel. The Royals would get that run back after an RBI single from Adam Frazier in the eighth.
Mike Trout made it a one run game in the bottom of the eighth after knocking a two-run home run to center field. The Royals responded with a four run explosion in the ninth. After loading the bases with two outs, Salvador Perez cleared the bases with a double, driving home his 98th, 99th, and 100th runs of the season. Mike Yastrzemski brought Perez home on an RBI single to complete the scoring.
Michael Lorenzen picked up the win, allowing two runs over 5.2 innings with nine strikeouts. Perez and Pasquantino also became the first teammates in franchise history to both hit at least 30 home runs and 100 RBIs in a season.
The Royals improve to 80-79. Kansas City now travels to West Sacramento to take on the Athletics to conclude the 2025 season. Noah Cameron will get the start. First pitch is at 9:05 p.m.
