The St. Louis Cardinals struggled to tame the Chicago Cubs offense, falling 12-1 Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs wasted no time getting to St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas as Noco Hoerner homered in the first. That would be the first of four home runs the Cubs would hit on the day. Mikolas also gave up a two-run shot to Pete Crow-Armstrong in the fourth and a solo shot from Michael Busch in the fifth.

Mikolas went five innings, giving up four runs on four hits.

The Cardinals got on the board in the seventh thanks to an RBI single from Jordan Walker.

The Cubs would quickly regain the momentum, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh, which was capped off by a grand slam from Seiya Suzuki.

St. Louis falls to 78-82 on the season. The Cardinals will try to even the series at Wrigley Field today. Michael McGreevy will get the start. First pitch is at 1:20 p.m.
