The Higginsville Board of Aldermen closed the books on the outgoing fiscal year’s budget and signed off on the city’s new budget during their meeting Monday, Sept. 29.

Final amendments for the budget came before the finance committee Sept. 15, before receiving final approval from aldermen Monday night, according to city administrator Jeanette Dobson.

Aldermen then approved next year’s budget at $30,913,102. They also approved a three-year contract with Gerding, Korte and Chitwood for the city’s annual audit.

Two street closure requests in Higginsville were approved for October: the homecoming parade scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 3 on Main Street from 15th to 22nd streets, and the Chamber of Commerce “Halloween Spooktacular” for the evening of Friday, Oct. 31 on Main Street from 18th to 22nd streets.
