Rita Jean Mullins, 64, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on September 29, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.

Born on March 8, 1961, at St Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Vivan M. Langkraehr and Knova C. Mullins Junior. She is survived by her brother Robert W. Mullins of North Kansas City, MO.

Rita graduated from Southwest High School in 1979 where she was in the art club and the National Honor Society.  After graduating she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia.  During her young adult life, she had an apartment in the Westport neighborhood where she frequented coffee shops, the art district, and was active in the science fiction community. Rita was an avid reader, had a photographic memory, and could always be found with a book in her hand.

In 2014, an unfortunate accident brought her to live at The Plaza Manor Nursing Center and eventually to the Highland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, which is where she resided until her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with Pastor Alan Gatewood officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Concordia.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lafayette County Cancer Coalition or Bethel Cemetery.

After the services conclude, the family invites friends and loved ones to gather at the Concordia Senior Center for coffee and cookies. The Concordia Senior Center is located at 710 S. Main St. in Concordia.
