
William A. “Bill” Mayfield, 84, of Sedalia, died Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Patrick Chapel, with Father Joe Corel officiating. Inurnment will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart High School or the Humane Society in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
Born June 25, 1941 in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Allen Charles Mayfield and Dorothy Mae Walters Mayfield. On April 4, 1964 in Sedalia, he married Sandy Heusler, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving is a son, Mark Shaw and his fiancé Sara of Winona, Minnesota; a brother, Daniel Mayfield and his wife Rose of Columbia, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Charles Heusler and his wife Mary of Colorado Springs, Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Walker. He was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Shaw; a brother, Gerald Wayne Mayfield; a sister, Barbara Jean Burch and her husband Bob; a sister-in-law, Dianne Raaen and her husband Jerry; and a brother-in-law, Mike Heusler.
Mr. Mayfield was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Patrick Chapel. He was a 1959 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September of 1959, and was discharged in September of 1963. He began his working career as a sheet metal worker with his father for eight years; and then began his career in 1985 with the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired on December 31, 2010, after twenty-eight years in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a Jack of all trades.
