An overwhelming majority of voters in the Sweet Springs Special Road District gave their approval to a four-year renewal of the district’s tax levy.
According to unofficial totals from Saline County Clerk Brittni Burton, 101 of the 121 votes cast in the Oct. 7 special election supported the proposed renewal of the $0.3052 tax levy. 110 votes were cast for Donald Vogelsmeier, the only name printed on the ballot to take a seat on the district’s commission.
The vote took place in October after the clerk’s office found that both items did not appear on the April ballot as originally intended by the district. Burton says turnout for the special election was at 8.7 percent. The clerk’s office plans to certify the result Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
