
Frances “Diane” Kateman, 69, of Marshall, MO, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Pikes Peak Hospice Facility in Colorado Springs, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Diane was born on November 27, 1955, in Marshall, MO, to John Wilson McDaniel and Marie L. Williams McDaniel. She married Steve Kateman on September 22, 1973, and together they built a life full of love and family. They shared 33 years of marriage before his passing in 2007.
Diane will be remembered for her loving and caring nature. She graduated from LPN school on August 31, 1987, and later retired from the Marshall Habilitation Center after more than 20 years of service. Above all, she treasured time with her family and loved ones, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and kindness on everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Steve Kateman (Kristin) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Magon Kateman of Marshall, MO; five grandchildren: Kayla Kateman of Redding, PA, Kalynn Oglesby of Phoenix, AZ, Maddi Hood of Marshall, MO, Stephen Kateman of Colorado Springs, CO, and Adriana Woodward of Marshall, MO; one great-grandson, Clessie Puckett of Redding, PA; her brother, Bruce McDaniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Kateman; seven sisters: Sandra Alspaw, Betty Duffey, Carol Neel, Margie Jolliff, Joyce Garrison, Dorthy McDaniel and Evelyn England; and three brothers: Carl, Billy, and Clyde McDaniel.
Diane’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and her love will continue to live on in her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
