Nearly 1800 taxpayers in Saline County will see a credit on their tax bills when they’re sent next month, following their approval to receive the senior tax credit.
Saline County Collector Cindi Sims announced at Wednesday morning’s county commission meeting that 1783 applications were completed and approved during the inaugural window for eligible property owners to apply for the credit. Sims says all applications have been processed and are now in the county’s system. She also told commissioners that credit recipients will also receive with their bills information on how to submit their annual renewal. Those taxpayers can submit their renewal application with their payments, while anyone seeking to apply for the credit for the first time will have to wait until March to do so. Tax bills will go out to Saline County property owners in early November.
Also at the Oct. 8 meeting, Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner announced that a project to replace the roof on the University of Missouri Extension office was complete. Following damage to their previous flat roof, the county’s insurance was able to cover the cost of replacing the previous roof with a pitched roof. Commissioners also accepted a vacation extension request for a member of the sheriff’s department, and approved the issuance of an auctioneer’s license and two temporary liquor licenses.
