
The Boonville Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment building Saturday, Oct. 11 that left one resident displaced.
According to the department, crews responded to a structure fire around 1:15 p.m. on the 800 block of 7th Street, and found smoke coming from a second floor apartment upon their arrival. Firefighters entered the building and found a fire in the kitchen, then quickly extinguished the flames. Crews then performed overhaul operations in the kitchen and ceiling above, and checked the attic space to ensure that the fire was fully out. Fire damage to the kitchen was considered extensive, with heavy smoke damage also reported throughout the unit.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
