A security issue at last Friday’s homecoming game has prompted Marshall Public Schools to implement tighter restrictions for youth attending future home football games.

Over the weekend, Marshall Supt. Caleb Petet released a statement informing parents that a student had brought a BB gun onto campus, alarming several students who reported the student to authorities. Petet tells KMMO News it was the latest issue involving unaccompanied youth at home football games.
.

As a result, any youth at future Marshall home football games will be expected to be with their parents, in the stands, in line, or asked to go home. Petet says the district will communicate the updated policy with visiting schools. He notes that at present, the new policy applies only to home football games.

Marshall’s next home football game is Oct. 24 against Sedalia Smith-Cotton. The Owls are currently sixth in the Class Four, District Five district standings, which would put them on the road for the playoffs.
