A Randolph County deputy was involved in a shooting incident after being called to assist in the investigation of a reported homicide in Ralls County.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Andy Boggs, the deputy joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol on October 12 to locate a person of interest in the homicide.

The deputy and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrived at a residence in Paris at approximately 1:50 p.m. Authorities were invited into the residence to search for the person of interest. While inside, the officers exchanged gunfire with a male subject who struck the deputy. 57-year-old Charles Armour, of Paris, was killed in the shooting. Armour was identified as the person of interest from the homicide reported in Ralls County.

The deputy was transported to the Randolph County Ambulance District and life-flighted to an area hospital. After multiple surgeries, the deputy is expected to make a full recovery.

The investigation is now being handled by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control.
