Marshall Public Schools could soon host Saline County’s first walk-in health clinic.

The district’s board of education gave first reading at Tuesday night’s meeting to a memorandum of understanding with Katy Trail Community Health to establish a clinic for the district’s staff. Supt. Caleb Petet says the clinic could benefit the community as a whole.

The board also gave first reading to a proposal to include an overhaul of the HVAC units atop the Marshall High School Gymnasium and locker rooms. According to a presentation from Asst. Supt. David Reinke, one of the four units atop the gymnasium has failed, while the other three are experiencing issues with their compressor and other key components. Petet says the upgrades will tap into the remaining funds designated for energy efficiency projects.

The project will also include five smaller united over the auxiliary gym and locker rooms and total $645,000. Another $51,000 is slated to incorporate the new Marshall Intermediate School into the district’s energy management system. The Marshall Board of Education also gave first reading to an updated long-range facility plan for Bueker Middle School.
