The Moberly Fire Department responded to fires at two unoccupied homes in as many days.
Crews were first called to the 300 block of Austin Street just before 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 to find the single-family home fully engulfed in smoke and flames. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control, with some off-duty personnel called in to provide support. Two firefighters were treated on scene for minor burns.
Moberly crews then responded Monday night around 8:40 p.m. to a residence in the 800 block of Greeley Street. Firefighters found flames and smoke emerging from the back of the structure, also a single-family dwelling. Crews entered the home under heavy fire conditions to bring the blaze under control, which took about 20 minutes.
Both fires are under investigation.
