The Saline County Commission held a special session Wednesday morning to open bids for replacement of the Paw Paw Trail bridge over Bear Creek, north of Gilliam.

The commission along with Matt Fazio of Great River Engineering opened and reviewed four bids during the session. The low bid came from Mera Excavating in the amount of $951,018.62. The next lowest bid was from Gene Haile Excavating at $1,125,000.

The highest bid came from C&C Bridge and Concrete, which was north of $1,369,000. Louis Company was the final bid at $1,313,637.

After opening each of the bids, the commission moved to take them under advisement. The Saline County Commission will next meet Wednesday, October 22.
