A special meeting of the Sedalia City Council is set for Friday, Oct. 17, with the sole agenda item concerning repairs to the Washington Street Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad.

According to documents provided with the agenda, the city is expected to accept the low bid for the rehabilitation project submitted Double Arch Construction of Florence totaling $663,000. The two other bids submitted, from Comanche Construction of Olathe and Gene Haile Excavating of Moniteau County, each exceeded $900,000. The project calls for the repairing or replacing of 13 columns supporting the approaches to the bridge, concrete removal and replacement, structural steel fabrication, surface preparation, and protective coatings.

The special meeting takes place at 12:15 p.m. in the Sedalia City Council chambers.
