Second-period goals by Jordan Kyrou and Jimmy Snuggerud placed the St Louis Blues in the win column for the first time this season at home, as they defeated the Dallas Stars 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Enterprise Center.
Kyrou’s first goal of the season opened the scoring, when early in the frame he wristed home a pass from Brayden Schenn past Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger. Snuggerud poked home the Blues’ second goal later in the period. The Stars pulled a goal back with just over two minutes remaining, tipping in a shot that Wyatt Johnston sent around Jordan Binnington. The Stars lifted Oettinger with the hopes of nabbing the equalizer, but Pius Suter picked off a Dallas player to slip the puck away and across the ice into the empty net.
Oettinger saved 19 shots for Dallas, while Binnington recorded 18 saves. The Blues’ two goals in the second period came off 12 shots, as the two teams split their faceoffs and were each 0-for-2 on power plays.
The Blues have six points on the young season, sitting third in the Central Division. The Blues will next host the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
