The Pettis County R-V School District Board of Education recognized two junior high teachers for their efforts in promoting student growth during its meeting on Wednesday, October 15.
According to Superintendent Amy Fagg, Math teacher Lachere Marsh and English teacher Amy Killion were both recognized by Saint Louis University’s PRiME Center for having three-year growth scores ranked near the top in the entire state in both mathematics and English language arts. The PRiME Center uses statistical models to examine the relationship between last year’s score and this year’s scores, which aims to more fairly measure how well schools are doing to promote student learning and growth.
The district’s junior high math growth score was 96.10, which was second in the state at the middle school level; while the ELA score was 92.60, good for 5th at the middle school level.
The board then recognized Northwest for having both the top ranked academic district and elementary school in the Kaysinger Conference for the second year in a row. These rankings are based off the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) and End-of-Course (EOC) assessment data from all the Kaysinger schools.
