A Sedalia man is facing felony charges after leading Sedalia Police on a chase through the city on a dirt bike on Thursday, October 16.
According to a probable cause statement, officers were dispatched to Vermont Park in reference to a subject on a dirt bike. The subject, later identified as Brodie Phillips, left the park shortly after police arrived on the scene. Other officers in Sedalia observed Phillips on his dirt bike traveling onto Broadway Boulevard at speeds of almost 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. Officers began to pursue Phillips through the city as he weaved through traffic in the roadway.
Officer attempted to corner Phillips as his bike stalled on West 16th Street, but Phillips drove the bike directly at one of the officers, narrowly avoiding him.
Phillips reportedly abandoned the bike in bushes along the Katy Trail between 11th and 13th Streets and fled on foot, where he was later located on South Washington Avenue. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.
Phillips is facing felony charges for assault in the first degree, aggravated fleeing, resisting arrest by fleeing, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence. Bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety, with a special condition of not being allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
