The Concordia Board of Aldermen will meet again Tuesday, Oct. 21 in special session, following the announcement that Mayor Michael Brown will resign from office.
City Administrator Dale Klussman says he was informed of Brown’s decision after Monday night’s meeting, but not a reason why.
Brown’s letter will be formally presented at Tuesday’s special meeting, after which time the president of the board, Kaleb Nierman, is expected to become acting mayor. Klussman says the board is expected to meet in closed session at their next regular meeting to decide who will fill the vacancy until April’s municipal election.
Klussman adds that the mayor’s term will have one year remaining when it appears on the April ballot. Tuesday’s special meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Concordia Community Center.
