A Marshall man convicted of rape and incest will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Senior Judge Dennis Rolf handed down the sentence of 48-year-old Lisandro Granados Alvarez in a Saline County courtroom Monday, Oct. 20. Granados Alvarez was convicted by a jury in August on two counts of incest and one count each of statutory rape, first degree rape, and domestic assault. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for each of the rape counts, with terms of four years for each of the other three counts. Prosecutors argued that Granados Alvarez committed two of the crimes in 2018 to a victim aged 14 or under, with a second instance believed to have occurred in February 2022. He was arrested a month later.
Attorneys for Granados Alvarez have submitted a notice of intent to appeal the conviction to the Western District Court of Appeals.
