A formal clarification on who comprises the Marshall Planning and Zoning Commission may soon come from Mayor Craig Thompson and the city council.

During his report to the council at the Tuesday, Oct. 21 meeting, city administrator JD Kehrman advised the council that there had been confusion among the five residents on the commission about who the two other members were. Kehrman notes that under state law, the mayor and a councilman are to fill the other two positions.

Kehrman notes that at least four rezoning requests are pending action by the commission.

In other business, the council approved six ordinances that had come up for first reading at the previous meeting. The council approved its annual agreement with the Marshall Municipal Band and contracts with the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra and Marshall Community Chorus. The council also authorized a number of perpetual utility easements and assigned another utility easement, all in connection with the construction of the new power plant, and authorized a land use agreement between the city, Marshall Municipal Utilities, and the Missouri Electric Commission.
