A Stover senior has wrapped up her high school golfing career with a bronze medal at the state tournament.
Mia Rowland shot a 166 in two rounds at the Class One state tournament this week, hosted at the Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton. Rowland finished 14 strokes behind the individual champion Rylee Allred of Ash Grove. Two area golfers also finished in the top ten, with Isabelle Potts of Penney and Kierstyn Sutch of Brookfield scoring 187. Harrisburg competed as a team and finished seventh with a total score of 901. Macklynn Spry led the Bulldogs with a 223. Highland won the Class One title with a 774.
Two area teams were down the road at the Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield for the Class Two state tournament. California finished fourth after losing the tiebreaker to Strafford, after both teams finished with 788. Anna Boyd led the Pintos with a 188. Conference foes Eldon claimed a 14-stroke victory over John Burroughs, while Sara Kolar of Maplewood-Richmond Heights was the top golfer with a 151. Karoline Dooley of Richmond finished sixth with a 179 to lead the Spartans to a seventh-place team finish. Keanna Mims of Versailled rounded out the top ten with a 184, one stroke better than Karagyn Cooper of Boonville.
Three Marshall golfers competed individually at the Class Three tournament at Joplin’s Twin Hills Country Club. Breanna Mach finished tied for 35th with a 190, while Melanie Durham was tied for 53th and Brylee Christy was 70th. Pembroke Hill was the state champion with a 724, while Anna Grace Bell of Poplar Bluff won the individual title with a 147.
Two Smith-Cotton golfers played in the Class Four tournament hosted at their home course, the Sedalia Country Club. Charlotte Fischer scored a 172, good for a tie for 38th, while Hannah Lowman was tied for 59th on 180. Page Bowman of Springfield Glendale win the individual title with a 141, while Raymore-Peculiar claimed the Class Four title with a team total of 649.
