A Fayette woman suffered moderate injury in a two-vehicle collision on a Clinton County highway Wednesday, Oct. 22.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 31-year-old woman was a passenger in a Jeep that was attempting to overtake a garbage truck slowing down in the southbound lane of U.S. Route 69 at 214th Street, about five miles north of Lawson. Troopers say the truck attempted to make a left turn, and was struck in its rear by the Jeep that was driven by a 43-year-old man from Columbia. The Jeep came to rest in the northbound lane facing south.
The Jeep’s driver and passenger were treated for moderate injuries at a Kansas City area hospital. Troopers note that neither person in the Jeep had their seat belts on at the time of the crash. The garbage truck’s driver had no reported injuries and was able to drive the truck from the scene.
