The Higginsville Board of Aldermen appointed a new member to fill the vacancy in Ward 2 after Alderman Curtis Lohman moved out of the ward.
The board approved the appointment during its Monday, October 20th meeting. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson says Kellie Berry was appointed to fill the vacancy.
Berry was also appointed to the committees that Lohman served on. This includes the Utilities, Transportation and Management, and the Emergency Services Committees.
Berry’s position will be on the ballot for the April 2026 election.
In other news from Monday night’s meeting, the board approved a request from Grace United Methodist Church to close 15th Street between Main and Walnut for their “Trunk or Treat” event on Friday, October 31. The closer will be in effect during the event from 4:45 to 7 p.m.
