Just over a year after an initial announcement, Love’s Travel Stops has told KMMO News that they are moving forward with plans to build a location at the Marshall Junction.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the company tells KMMO News that Love’s is, “excited to join the Marshall, Missouri, community next year with a location that will provide fuel, a variety of food options . . . and other amenities such as clean restrooms and showers, a dog park, and more for community members and travelers.” While Love’s did not confirm a timeline, Saline County Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner announced at the Wednesday, Oct. 22 commission session that plans were for the truck stop to break ground in February at the southeast corner of Interstate 70 and U.S. Route 65, between the interstate and 116th Trail (Old Route 40).

The junction was a focus of Wednesday’s session, as commissioners adopted an order authorizing the county to enter into an lease purchase agreement for equipment at the wastewater treatment plant under construction. The agreement between the county and Wood and Huston Bank will allow the county to purchase the equipment, which Marshall Municipal Utilities will operate. Construction is underway on the system, with MegaKC constructing the plant and treatment lagoon while Do-Rite Construction of Lincoln is building the collection system for the southeast quadrant of the junction.
