The No. 15 Missouri Tigers came up short in the second half, falling to the No. 10 Vanderbilt Commodores 17-10 at FirstBank Stadium on Saturday.

Both offenses struggled to get going in the first half, with both teams being held scoreless in the first quarter. The Tigers punted three times before they finally put together a scoring drive in the second quarter, driving to the Vanderbilt 21 yard line before a tripping pushed them back 15 yards. The Tigers were able to connect on a 39-yard field goal to take the first lead of the game.

The Commodores responded on the very next possession, answering with a 38-yard kick to tie it up before the half.

The offensive struggles continued in the third quarter, until Vanderbilt seized the lead and the momentum thanks to an 80-yard touchdown carry from Makhilyn Young to give the Commodores their first lead. To make matters worse for Mizzou, starting quarterback Beau Pribula was carted off the field with an ankle injury after the Tigers turned it over on downs at the Vanderbilt 2 yard line.

Matt Zolers took over for the Tigers and led a 12 play, 75-yard touchdown drive capped off by a six-yard completion to Jude James in the end zone to tie the game 10-10.

After the Tiger defense forced a punt in the fourth quarter, the stage was set for the offense to drive down field and regain the lead, but the Commodores recovered a fumble at the Missouri 44 with seven minutes to go. The set up the game-winning touchdown drive for Vanderbilt, as the Commodores scored and ate up five minutes off the clock to lead 17-10 inside the two-minute warning.

Mizzou was unable to score on that final drive, suffering its second loss of the season to an SEC opponent.

Kevin Coleman Jr. led the Tigers with seven catches for 107 yards. Ahmad Hardy finished with 20 carries for 97 yards. The Tigers outgained Vanderbilt by more than 100 yards, putting up 376 total yards of offense.

Missouri falls to 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. The Tigers will have next week off before hosting No. 3 Texas A&M on Saturday, November 8.
