An early morning collision with a deer west of Callao on Saturday, Oct. 25 sent two people from Kansas to an area hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an SUV driven by a 24-year-old woman was going east on U.S. Route 36 a mile west of the Macon County community, when at around 4:15 a.m., the SUV struck a deer in the roadway. The driver suffered moderate injury, while her 24-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. The two were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
