Sales and use tax collections in Saline County during September were lower than the previous year, but are still ahead for the year to date.

Figures from the Missouri Department of Revenue and presented by Saline County Treasurer Jared Brewer show sales tax collections during September totaling $118,193.66. That’s a six-percent decline from the same month a year ago. Similar totals were also reported for the county’s economic development and law enforcement taxes. Compared to the previous month, sales tax collections were down $5535.85. Saline County is still outperforming last year’s collections by 1.2 percent, sitting at an average of $117,232.23 per month.

Use tax collections also saw a month-to-month and year-over-year decrease. Collections for Saline County in September totaled $76,132.47, down $7354.70 from August and 13 percent lower than the same month a year ago. Year-to-date use tax collections are averaging $93,182.32 per month, an increase of eight percent from the previous year.

Sales and use tax collections for each month are reported by the state and distributed to counties and other taxing polities during the following month.
