The Brunswick City Council approved an updated ordinance addressing how the city abates nuisance properties.

City Clerk Sarah Clubine tells KMMO News that the ordinance adopted at their Tuesday, Oct. 21 meeting sets out the process for how administrative search warrants are executed when it comes to dealing with nuisances on private property. Clubine says that city will issue two warnings before issuing a ticket. Should the ticket not be settled in a timely manner, the city will then seek a warrant to abate the nuisance.

Also last Tuesday, the council also discussed potential updates to another ordinance, this one concerning dangerous animals, but took no action. The council approved Mayor Diane Rice’s appointment of Ann Kimmel to the Brunswick Housing Authority, and elevated police officer Dee Greenlee to a full-time position. The council decided to seek bids for a new Bobcat, including a possible trade-in of their current unit. Clubine adds that the city is also seeking estimates for a furnace unit at the city’s barn after the structure installed new insulation.

The Brunswick City Council will next meet Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
