Matchups for the first round of district football are set, including the two games we’ll feature Friday, Oct. 31 on our airwaves.
The Marshall Owls were unable to move up from the bottom seed in Class Four, District Five, and will be on the road to Warrenton for a first-round clash against the third-seeded Warriors of the Gateway Activities Conference. We’ll have this matchup on KMMO AM 1300 and online at kmmo.com. Our Game of the Week on FM 102.9 will have Greg Schmidt on the call for Santa Fe’s trip south to Sweet Springs for an eight-man contest in District Three. The winner of this game will face the top-seeded Northwest (Hughesville)/Otterville co-op next week.
Several games are scheduled for Thursday, including all the games in Class Five, District Seven. Among those is second-seeded Smith-Cotton hosting seventh-seed Grandview. Also moving to Thursday is Raytown South at Lincoln Prep in Class Four, District Seven, with the winner traveling to top-seeded Warrensburg the following week. Two MRVC schools are also starting district play a night early, as Holden will host Diamond in Class Two, District Four, while Lexington’s game against KIPP KC Legacy in Class Two, District Six will take place Thursday night at Center High School.
All games Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. unless otherwise listed
