The No. 5 Missouri Valley College Women’s soccer team swept the weekly Heart of America Athletic Conference awards, and an MVC men’s golfer earned his third award this season after his performance at the Heart Preview at Paradise Point in Smithville.

The women’s soccer team defeated Mount Mercy 7-0 to open Homecoming weekend on Saturday. Forward Ashley Arribas was named the Heart Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Defender Zoe Christofaro was the Heart Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Arribas won her first award of the season, and the third of her career, after scoring three goals in the win over Mount Mercy. The hat-trick was the first of Arribas’ career, the first for the program since 2021, and gives her eight goals and 18 points on the season. Christofaro earned the first weekly award of her career after scoring one goal, and helping a Viking defense give up only one shot on goal to record its fifth shutout. So far this season, Christofaro has scored four goals.

The women’s soccer team is 11-0-4 overall and 9-0-2 in the Heart. Saturday’s victory was also the 200th win in the career of Head Coach Drew Hawkins. Up next, is a Senior Night contest against Missouri Baptist at 5 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.

Golfer Felipe Suarez was named the Heart Men’s Golfer of the Week after leading the Vikings to an individual title and team championship at the Heart Preview at Paradise Point in Smithville.

Suarez finished the tournament with a two-round score of -6 (138) to win by eight strokes. He was the only golfer to go under-par in both rounds. He also led the No. 16 Vikings to a team title, winning the tournament by 16 strokes over No. 8 MidAmerica Nazarene with a final score of +15 (591).

This is the third weekly award for Suarez of the season, and the second-straight week he has been honored. He was named both the Heart and NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week back on September 15.
